Are you a dedicated Social Worker with the skills to engage and empower adults with mental health needs to live the life they want and deserve?
The Mental Health service is responsible for assessing and reviewing social care needs and undertaking safeguarding enquiries for adults who have primary mental health needs. This includes creating person centred, strengths-based support plans, undertaking carers assessments and capacity assessments under the Mental Capacity Act.
As a Mental Health Social Worker, you will be part of our duty system and contribute to it on a rota basis. While on duty you will be responsible for screening incoming referrals and safeguarding concerns, responding to queries and contact from service users, carers and other professionals.
About the role
Working within statutory frameworks you will undertake assessments, plan care and support and make the best use of available resources to enable people to have better lives.
You will play a crucial role in safeguarding adults who are at risk of harm / or have been harmed. Across all the work there is a strong need for multi-agency working, and you will work closely with health colleagues in primary and secondary care including both inpatient and community services, housing services, the police, care providers and the voluntary sector.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Qualified post ASYE Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
- A solid understanding of the legal frameworks of the Care Act, the Mental Capacity Act, the Mental Health Act and the Human Rights Act.
- Skilled in building trusting relationships and great communication skills in different contexts.
- Experience of multi-agency working, working collaboratively, creatively, and flexibly.
- Experience and confidence in undertaking high quality assessments and managing risk.
