Job Title - Deputy Temporary Accommodation and Procurement Manager 

Salary Range - £43,434 to £51,099

Permanent Full Time (36hours)

Location – Wandsworth 

Can you see yourself playing an important role in leading the teams who manage temporary accommodation and procure private sector properties (PRS) for homeless families across Richmond and Wandsworth? 

If so, this is a unique opportunity to work for a ground-breaking shared staffing structure across both boroughs.

You will be primarily responsible for ensuring the allocation and supply of cost effective, suitable temporary and settled accommodation to meet the Councils’ statutory homeless duties. Supporting a front-line team who actively support and sustain tenancies in the private housing sector.

You need to be a dynamic and innovative Manager who can lead a team of officers to deliver a high-quality customer focussed front line service supporting households into private rented sector.

You will be a self-motivating manager with a record of success in service and staff management.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • To be able to apply working knowledge of complex legislation applicable to the post in particular, homeless legislation, welfare reform.
  • Understanding the suitability of accommodation and ending homeless duty of Discharge of Duty under Section 193(5) – Housing Act 1996 Part VII.
  • Good practice around property inspections as well as Landlord and tenant legislation including Housing Health and Safety Rating System.
  • Proven excellent communication, mediation skills in dealing with landlords and applicants, particularly those who may have disabilities or are vulnerable.
  • The ability to apply working knowledge of complex legislation applicable to the role in particular, homeless legislation, case law, welfare benefits, relevant Codes, as well as landlord and tenant law.
