The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and London Borough of Wandsworth present a unique opportunity to be part of a team who have been working together for a number of years in a ground-breaking shared staffing structure across both Councils.

About the role

The Shared Procurement Service provides a combined procurement service to both Richmond and Wandsworth Councils.  The Councils operate a fully centralised procurement service with an established team of procurement professionals. You will help to support the continued development of this high performing team.

Can you inspire, encourage, and continue to develop a group of high performing and experienced procurement professionals?

Can you share your experience and passion for procurement with a very diverse group of stakeholders, both internal and external?

Do you want to continue to develop your own professional knowledge and judgement, and to pass on those skills to the next generation of procurement professionals?

Do you want to see the real and measurable impact your work can have on our diverse communities and service users?

If you answer yes to the above, we might have the perfect role for you.

About the role

You will manage a team of experienced Procurement Professionals providing core procurement consultancy services to your commissioners within both Adults and Childrens social care services, and ensuring compliance with the regulatory framework public sector procurement must operate within.

You will be the subject matter expert on any procurement related topics within your category, providing timely, accurate and pragmatic advice to your direct reports and other stakeholders.

You will ensure the pipeline of activity is closely monitored, and you will directly engage with core commissioners supporting them through the often-complex procurement process for new and recurring requirements.

You will advise on appropriate routes to market, evaluation criteria, social value initiatives and well-designed processes which reflect the capabilities of the market.

You will be a key member of an experienced and high performing management team, contributing your knowledge and experience to ensure continued professional development of your direct reports and others within the wider team.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  1. A demonstrable track record of success within a comparable sized organisation, including line management of staff.
  2. A detailed knowledge and experience of UK Procurement Law in practice.
  3. Knowledge of current best practice procurement as it relates to public sector procurement.
  4. Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills.
  5. Willing and able to attend in person our primary office in Wandsworth town centre at least two days per week.
